You Were Wrong
Mark Coker©2009

Some People can see through me
All the way to you – no matter what I do
If you could see the hole you left for me to fill
You’d know I love you – and I always will
And though my life is an open book
I don’t suppose – you’d ever take a look
To see that you were wrong – You were so wrong about me
That’s why I wrote this song
And I hope someday – They’ll play it on the radio
And you will know – That you were wrong
Some people know I’m lying
When I tell them I’m okay – no matter what I say
If you could see the break that I’m supposed to mend
You’d know I love you – and I’d take you back again
And though my life is almost always on display
You don’t see me – and I don’t hear you say
That you were wrong – You were so wrong about me
That’s why I wrote this song
And I hope someday – They’ll play it on the radio
And you will know – That you were wrong

Time
Mark Coker©2009

Do you ever think about the time you’ve wasted
Wouldn’t you like another try
All things you’ve never done and never tasted
All the days that passed you by

Time goes by so slow until you turn five… and then it flies
Here you come and there you go. You’re still alive. But I hope you realize

Days are like a blade of grass on a foggy morning
Troubles few and far between
The sun comes in just like a thief without a warning
Smuggles dew and chars the green

Don’t even listen to the ending to this song. There goes three minutes… you’ll never see again
I know it doesn’t really seem like very long. But it makes a difference… You’ll need them in the end

Do you ever think about what could have been
Had you never killed your time
Knowing now what you didn’t know back then
Time was never on our side

It waits for no one and it always gets away… aren’t we always losing track
Second hands just run in circles every day… you never see them running back

This Is Not The End

I’ve been here before

This aint the worst thing that could happen

I’ve got a fight left in me – that’s for sure

I just didn’t see this coming

(PRE) No, it took me by surprise

(CHORUS)

Don’t feel sorry for me

I will stand again

Don’t be fooled by what you see

This is not the end

What has taken hold of me

Is common to man

At the end of this trial I will be

Better than I’ve ever been

(PRE)  And everyone will be surprised

(CHORUS)

I may have taken a wrong turn sometime ago

But I can always turn around

And at the crossroads where I thought I lost my soul

There’s a lost and found

(PRE) no, I shouldn’t be surprised

There You Are
Mark Coker©2005

I heard a voice within the choir

That somehow stood out from the rest

The harmony you sang was higher

And every note was somehow blessed

I went into the
Holy Place

And you were shining like a star

The very moment I first saw your face

I said to myself, “There You Are.”

(Chorus)

There you are… I’ve been looking for you

For you… I saved my heart

Welcome home… I knew I’d find you

I had a dream… and there you are

I have known you all my life

Although I never knew your name

And I knew you would be my wife

And I knew you would feel the same

You could have been a world Away

We could have been a world apart

I would have found you anyway

As fate would have it… there you are

(Chorus) X2
Sleeping With The Light On
Mark Coker©2009

I drove past… the road on which I should have turned
I played with matches and gasoline and I… got burned
I should have known… I was told this is the way it would be
I dropped into a hole… a dusty well opened up for me

(Chorus)

I believed the lies
And chose to close my eyes

I’ve been sleeping with the light on
To all the world I pulled the blind
Let them have their lonely shadows
I’ve got peace of mind

I can’t help it if they can’t see
The road they should be on
Now I lay me down to sleep
I’ve been sleeping with light on

Just a dream… I could have sworn I heard a soul outside
Then maybe a scream… should I help or should I go and hide
If I were to shine… illuminating in the night
Those who once were blind… may find new hope in sight

(Chorus)

She’s Not The Only Pebble On The Beach
Mark Coker©2011

If she puffs a little smoke in the morning
I’ll let that serve me as an early warning
The rings are wearing out – and soon without a doubt
I suppose I’m gonna have to trade her in
When they start to slip and whine – it’s just a matter of time
Until they leave you broken down again
I may be slow but I’m not that hard to teach
She’ll be surprised what lies within my reach
Before she leaves me walking – I’ll see what’s on the market
She’s not the only pebble on the beach
If she complains when I get home a minute late
I’ll explain and if that doesn’t set her straight
I’ll start to pack my things – and if she don’t know what that means
She’ll have to think about it on her own
I won’t stand here and debate – I’m looking for a date
Hold that thought until you see I’m gone
(Chorus)

Rush In
Mark Coker©2008

Don’t wait ‘til they’re gone
To drive with your lights on
Tell them before it’s too late

The dearly departed
May leave broken hearted
Rush in; it’s the fools who wait

Rush in and tell ‘em that you love ‘em
Rush in and don’t hesitate
Give them flowers now or let ‘em know somehow
Rush in; it’s the fools who wait

Live without regretting
Forgiving and forgetting
Every trespass, debt and sin

Say it loud and clear
Or whisper in their ear
Either way – I say – Rush In

Rush in and tell ‘em that you love ‘em
Rush in and don’t hesitate
Give them flowers now or let ‘em know somehow
Rush in; it’s the fools who wait

Time has flown and
We’ve all blown
Moments in our past

It’s a brand new day
Don’t let it slip away
Rush in; they go by fast

Rush in and tell ‘em that you love ‘em
Rush in and don’t hesitate
Give them flowers now or let ‘em know somehow
Rush in; it’s the fools who wait

(Guitar Solo)

Rush in and tell ‘em that you love ‘em
Rush in and don’t hesitate
Give them flowers now or let ‘em know somehow
Rush in; it’s the fools who wait
